Uma Chandrika Millner, Ph.D.

Dr. Uma Chandrika Millner is a licensed psychologist and an Assistant Professor in the Division of Psychology and Applied Therapies at Lesley University. Dr. Millner has an MA in Mental Health Counseling, and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. She completed her doctoral internship at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School. She also has an MA in Clinical Psychology from University of Pune, Maharashtra. Dr. Millner has extensive experience working in hospital and community-based mental health settings providing psychotherapy services to diverse groups of individuals. At present, she has a small private practice where she provides pro bono/sliding scale counseling services. At Lesley, she leads a team of research professionals and research assistants who are part of the Mental Health Identity and Adaptability (MHIA) Research Lab. Dr. Millner has worked on several federally funded research projects focused on the vocational empowerment and community integration of individuals living with serious mental health conditions. She developed and directed the Opening Doors program at Boston University and the Career Studio program at Lesley University, both of which provided career counseling services to individuals living with serious mental illness. She has also served as a trainer and consultant on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice issues with community-based and for-profit agencies. Overall, her work is grounded in community-based interventions, social justice, and multiculturalism. Dr. Millner believes in participatory and intersectional approaches that build bridges among people and across communities. Partnerships with individuals with lived experience of serious mental health conditions form a vital part of her work. She has a deep commitment to the South Asian community and diaspora and is grateful to be of service to her people through INDEAR.

Radhika Bapat,
Ph.D.

As a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), Radhika has counseled people of all ages living with mental illnesses since 2004. Presently she works with clients living with stress and adjustment issues, and mood or anxiety disorders. Radhika served as Head of the Department of Behavioural Sciences and Mental Health at Sahyadri Hospitals in Pune from 2009-2018. There she worked alongside an interdisciplinary team of medical experts and focused on teaching, supervisory training, adult neuropsychological rehabilitation, and creating low cost rehabilitation tools. Under the aegis of Sahyadri Hospitals, Radhika also founded a holistically-oriented Child Guidance Center (CGC). Under Radhika’s direction, the CGC became one of the first centers in India to offer early interventions for children aged 0 to 6. Radhika has a Ph.D. in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the prestigious Leiden University in The Netherlands, for which she was awarded a prestigious, fully-funded fellowship. She also holds a M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal.
